Spray Tan Prep + Care

Your Guide To radiant results

How to Prepare for your Spray tan

  • Use a gentle exfoliating scrub or mitt to remove dead skin cells, focusing on areas like elbows, knees, and ankles.

  • Shave or wax hair at least a day before the spray tan to allow pores to close, preventing dark spots.

  • Do not apply any moisturizers, oils, deodorants, or perfumes on the day of your appointment as they can act as a barrier to the tanning solution.

  • Choose loose-fitting, dark-colored clothes and avoid bras or tight straps immediately after your tan to prevent smudging.

  • Cleanse your skin thoroughly, removing makeup, deodorant, and any jewelry before the appointment.

  • You can wear disposable or old undergarments during the session to avoid staining your favorites, or you can opt for no tan lines.

  • Discontinue use of products with oils, retinoids, or AHAs/BHAs a few days before your appointment, as they may interfere with the tan's longevity.

  • Drink plenty of water leading up to the session to keep your skin hydrated for better results.

  • Plan your session when you have at least 6-8 hours (or as advised) for the tan to develop without showering or sweating.

how to care for your spray tan

  • Allow the tan to develop for the recommended time.

  • Rinse off with lukewarm water only—avoid hot water, soap, or scrubbing. Gently pat your skin dry with a towel.

  • Do not apply any products to your skin until after your first rinse, as this may affect the tan's development.

  • After your first rinse, apply a high-quality, oil-free moisturizer daily to keep your skin hydrated and prolong the tan.

  • Limit exposure to chlorine, salt water, and long, hot baths, as they can cause the tan to fade faster.

  • Do not exfoliate your skin or use products with AHAs/BHAs, retinoids, or alcohol-based ingredients as they will strip the tan.

  • Continue to wear loose, dark clothing for at least the first 24 hours to prevent friction from fading the tan.

  • Refrain from activities that cause sweating to avoid streaks or uneven fading.

  • When showering after the first rinse, use a mild soap to prevent stripping the tan.

  • Use a gradual self-tanner or bronzing lotion to maintain color or touch up any areas as they fade.

  • Your tan will fade naturally over 5-10 days. To ensure an even fade, moisturize daily and gently exfoliate toward the end of its lifespan.
